Past Reality Integration

PRI is a method aimed at the development of consciousness. A concrete model with practical and effective tools to better understand your emotions. And deal with it. The Dutch psychologist Ingeborg Bosch has developed PRI and there is now a large group of therapists in the Netherlands who apply PRI.

When  you regularly run into things in your life that make you think 'why does this happen every time?' or 'I don't understand why I feel this way (again)', then you suffer from a blockage. PRI shows you how that blockage arose when you were young and how it affects your life. With the PRI tools you get a clear picture of how often your behavior or your feeling in the present is unintentionally influenced by your past. And you learn to remove those blockages. Delicious. Because what does it yield?

PRI was developed by the Dutch psychologist Ingeborg Bosch. She has written six books about this, which have also been translated into English and French. And in the Netherlands there is a group of about 70 therapists who work with this and that group is expanding.

PRICE  is a method aimed at the development of consciousness. A concrete model with practical and effective tools to better understand your emotions.

Unblocking

In your life you regularly run into things that make you think 'why does this happen every time?' or 'I don't understand why I feel this way (again)'. PRI then shows you how those blockages arose when we were young and how they affect our lives.

The PRI model makes clear how this works and how often you are influenced by the past in these kinds of situations – without wanting it. But more importantly: PRI offers you the opportunity to remove these blockages.

Unmet needs

Every small child faces situations where adults don't fit in well with what he or she needs for whatever reason.  This can concern physical needs, such as food, but also emotional needs such as attention and love. But when you're small, you're totally dependent on adults. After all, you can't just leave and go to a better place. It is all the more painful when these needs are not met. And that happens to every small child.

In order not to feel this pain, the child represses this truth and develops defense mechanisms so that the pain remains well stored.

Defense Mechanisms

It is these defense mechanisms that affect us as adults. For a child, it was better to feel a defense such as anger than to feel that mom or dad isn't giving you what you really need at that moment. As adults, however, we are no longer dependent on another for the fulfillment of our needs. That means those same defenses are now more destructive than protective!

However, responding from defense has become a very strong habit over the course of life. Our brain and even our entire being is programmed to react in a certain way. Even if it bothers us a lot, it continues.

Fear
developing irrational fear

Primary defense
talk yourself down: "I'm bad, I'm guilty, I can't and that's why I don't get what I need"

False hope

to please, to do your best: “Now if I do this or that, I will get what I need”

false power
getting angry at others: “It's your fault that I don't get what I need. If only you….”

Denial of needs
playing in nice weather: “Nothing is wrong with me, I'm fine, I don't need anything”

How did you start protecting yourself as a child?

In the sessions it will become clear which defenses you use the most. The PRI tools, which I will teach you, will help you dismantle the defences. This creates space to respond from your free self.

With PRI you do reflect on the past (PAST), but with the aim of living in the NOW. And no longer from the survival mechanisms that you have automatically and unconsciously taken with you from your past.

What is PRI based on?

The insights and methods used in PRI are based on the latest insights into how our brain works, but also on age-old Eastern techniques such as self-observation. In addition, Western concepts such as behavioral and cognitive principles are used. For more information, visit www.prionline.nl
